The Last Place We Look

Posted on May 14, 2014 at 11:40 PM

Have you ever stopped to wonder what it means when someone says, "I found

it in the last place I looked"? Kinda silly huh? I mean even if you found

your wallet, keys, or whatever in the first place you looked it would also

be the last place you looked, right? Are people really saying, "Luckily I

was smart enough to call off the search when I found what I was looking for"?

"Yeah I found my keys three days

ago. But it's been so much fun I just kept on looking for them."

As Bill Engvall said a few years ago, "Here's your sign!"

Nevertheless, we are slow when it comes to looking for things real or

at least I know I can be sometimes. How come is it we never think to look for God first.

Usually, for a lot of people turning too God is a last ditch effort.

They have used up all other options kind of thing.

Are you that way too? Again - here's your sign!

But this sign should have a verse from James on it.

James 4:2 - Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and

desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war

, yet ye have not, because ye have not.

We try all the earthly sinful ways we can think of to attain something;

we lie, cheat, gossip and destroy. But we don't seek after God's will in prayer.

As it is stated in the Jamieson, Faussett, and Brown Commentary on this

passage "God promises to those who pray, not to those who fight.

Are you looking everywhere else to fill the longings in your heart?

Look toward God first--- It will be the best thing you will ever do.

Depending on God for you every need......
